After winning the UPA College Championships in 2004, the UC-Davis Pleiades took the 2005 season to rebuild its squad. Now in 2006, the team returns most of its roster from last year, which still includes some major players from the championship team of two seasons ago.

Davis’ handling core consists of veteran players Sarah Pittiglio #1, Lindsey Riemenschneider #22, Nerissa Rujanavech #12, and Victoria "Chuckie" Wilk #99. All of these women were impact players on the 2004 squad and now have the experience of leading the team. Additionally, Pittiglio has been playing on the club team Skyline for the past few seasons. Teams should expect Wilk's breakmark throws to jump-start the offense and Riemenschneider to lead the defensive charge.

The rest of the team has less experience, but Laurie Kramer, Cristina "Eppie" Buss #14, and Stephanie "Freshie" Hammon #16 are all solid players. In fact, Kramer is one of the team's top receivers. Additionally with the knowledge and expertise of coach Julie Baker, the new rookies will be in good hands.

Although Davis had a slow start at this season's fall tournaments, with the experience on its roster it should be one of the top competitors in the region this season.
