| After coming in third in the region in 2005, MIT barely missed making quarterfinals of the UPA College Championships and ended up tied for 9th place. The team made semifinals, finals, and quarterfinals in 2002, 2003, and 2004, respectively.
For the 2006 season, MIT will miss the graduation of Callahan finalist Nancy Sun, Angela Tong, and Alison Cohen. Luckily, the knowledge and strategy of Sun and Tong will not be lost to the team as they return to the program as coaches. MIT also returns a number of upperclassmen, including Yelena Gorlin (#14), Taylor Schildgen (#27), and Erika Swanson (#12). Schildgen and Swanson play for Lady Godiva during the club season and are veteran players capable of leading the team on the field. MIT has established a name for itself playing a well-executed offense that is both patient and willing to capitalize on defensive missteps. The team will be attending at least one competitive tournament outside New England as it works hard to make it back to the championships. |
