UCLA came in third at Regionals last year after losing a close game to Colorado in the semifinals. This relatively new team (2006 will be the third year of the teams existence) has made a name for itself.

One of the benefits of starting out two years ago with an incredibly young roster is that most of those players are still on the team. The only major loss to the roster from last year is Jessie Amberg, who will be helping Alex Korb coach. After a season with Bay Area club team Skyline, Anna "Maddog" Nazarov (#5) is the main handler for UCLA, leading the offense with breakmark throws and consistency. Other athletic stand-outs include Pooja Shah #8, Emily Gauthier (#10), Laura Yee (#2), Lisa "Clyde" Vampola (#22), and Jen "Zip" Chen (#29). Additionally, the team picked-up grad student Heather "Chuckles" Armstrong, who played for Stanford in 2002 and has been playing club and coaching since.

Relying on speed and athleticism, UCLA has a tremendous amount of energy when on the field. Attending a record number of tournaments this season, the team will get the chance to match-up against squads from across the nation. UCLA will be one of the top three contenders for the two bids from the Southwest.
