| In 2004, the Claremont Colleges Greenshirts qualified for the UPA College Championships for the first time in the school's history. The team finished 11th/12th.
Unfortunately, from last year's small roster of 14 players, 8 were graduating seniors. The loss of Claire Fisher and Laila Bernstein will be especially felt. As the only upperclassman on the team, Leslie Greer will be the team leader this year. Of course, the five returning 2nd year players will also have the experience of going to Nationals and should be great models for the influx of rookies that the team will need. The Greenshirts' two coaches will be a big difference in how successful this rebuilding year is for the team. With only one bid to Nationals this year from the Southwest, the team will have to work hard if it wants to be playing again on Memorial Day weekend. So far, the team performed well at SoCal Warm-up, where it won the round robin by beating UCLA and UCSD split squads as well as UCSB, Arizona, and Cal Poly SLO.
Due to the consortium status that the team has with the five Claremont Colleges, the team should be able to recruit enough to fill the holes in the roster. In 2004, Claremont was even able to have a B team for the UPA College Series. It is unclear whether the team will be able to field a B team again this year, but the level of interest in ultimate at the Claremont Colleges is promising for the season.
Tournament Updates:
- Claremont finished 3-3 for the weekend at the Santa Barbara Invite, coming in second in its pool to UC-San Diego and losing to UC-Berkeley in quarterfinals
- At President's Day the team went 1-4 with a win over Oregon State
- At the Stanford Invite, the Greenshirts were 0-5 against very tough competition
