Only a few years in existence, the Pacific Lutheran Lady Reign came in 10th last year at Regionals. With more experience and a new coach, the team hopes to improve on that finish this season. Check out this season's results on the Score Reporter.

The team graduated Lindsey Smith, Leah Proctor, and Laney Coyne from last year's core. However, Coyne will be returning to the team as the coach this year. After playing a club season with Seattle team Viva!, Coyne hopes to develop more team strategy for the PLU women. The team will be lead by captain Jill Rienecker, the only 4th year player on the team, who's lefty throws make her one of the team's top handlers. Laurel Williams is also another chill handler who has a great forehand (and hammer). Abbey Keene, Andrea Wold, and Jessica Carter are all returning players that will be big play makers. Watch out for another fast receive in former juniors player Carly.

PLU has always been a scrappy team that has a lot of fun together with good team cohesion. The team utilizes a reset dump and often flows the disc down the strong side effectively.

This fall, PLU Lady Reign surprised many teams at O.F.U.K., where it made the semifinals. During the regular season, the team will be making an appearance at the Stanford Invite Qualifier, Mardi Gras, and it's own PLU BBQ. Last year, the team also drove down for the club tournament, D.U.I.. Going to so many tournaments and playing in local spring leagues gives this team a lot of opportunities to play ultimate and improve.

Tournament Updates:

  • PLU came in third at the Stanford Invite Qualifier, beating Lewis & Clark in semis and then losing to UC-Santa Barbara in finals and Humboldt State in the backdoor finals
  • The team lost its 5 games at the Stanford Invite, but came within one point of upseting UCLA
  • At its own PLU BBQ, Pacific Lutheran was undefeated to win the tournament over Lewis & Clark
