In 2004, the UC-Santa Barbara Burning Skirts finished 5th at Regionals and ended ranked 20th in the nation in the UPA's Top 25 Rankings.

This season, the team is looking to improve upon its finish, and it should have the cast to be able to do that. The team has 16 2nd year or 3rd year players on its large roster, including four women who played with the club team, the Lady Condors, during the fall. Alden Fletcher, Allison Maddux, Cindy Ryals, and captain Randi Watts should all be able to use their club ultimate experience to help lead the team. Co-captains Yael Kisel and Claire Fletcher will also be a part of the team's core.

During the fall, the team only competed in SoCal Warm-Up, where it beat split UCLA and UC-San Diego squads but lost to Claremont and Arizona. Competing at the Santa Barbara Invite, the Stanford Invite Qualifier, President's Day, and D.U.I. is a challenging schedule that will provide ample opportunity for the team to improve and prove itself. With only one bid from the Southwest to the UPA College Championships this year, the stakes are rather high. This team will likely be setting its sights on beating sectional rivals Claremont and UCLA and regional competition Colorado and Arizona at Regionals.

The team's new coach this year, Karen Ko, just finished playing with the Burning Skirts in the 2004 season. She now leads the team with quiet intensity. In years past, the team has been known for being a scrappy team that works the disc through the hands of a few talented players. With such a big roster this year, the team will likely expand its rotation and develop a large group of solid players.
