| Mardi Gras is one of the larger women's tournaments in the college circuit. It is also the tournament with the largest amount in prize money, with $1,250 up for grabs for the winning women's team. The tournament also amazingly features jambalaya, crafish, beer, and over 100 teams in multiple divisions. | |||

Tournament Write-up
Congratulations to Wisconsin for winning the tournament and the prize money. Wisconsin beat Georgia in the finals. More details to come soon...
The roster of 26 teams has been announced: www.mardigrasultimate.com/teams.html With 12 of the 26 from the South region, including last year's Nationals qualifiers Texas and Texas A&M, the tournament looks like a preview of South regionals. The Central region sends seven, Great Lakes five and Atlantic Coast two teams. This looks to be the first tournament for many as only three of the teams are currently listed in the UPA RRI (Florida #3, Michigan #7 and Michigan-B #27). Several other teams were competing at Trouble in Vegas (Wisconsin and Texas A&M) and Hendrix Ultimate Experience (Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma St, North Texas and Oklahoma) the same weekend as QCTU, but the results were not entered into the UPA score reporter soon enough for the lastest RRI update. Based on the 2005 series and a few fall and early season tournaments, I would pick the following teams as favorites to make quarters:
Texas - Semis Nats05 Exactly who rounds out the top eight is up for grabs. GL contenders Illinois, Notre Dame and Indiana all have a shot (OK, I admit my GL bias). But perhaps another team from the South such as Arkansas, Tulane or Oklahoma (the next highest finishers at SO05 regionals) will break through. Finally, Iowa State should also be in the running as they finished 4th in the Central last year. Looking forward to the King Cake.
